Nimbus speak on future opportunities in the water sector

The North Cork Enterprise Board hosted a Water Seminar in the Mallow GAA Complex, Co. Cork on October 22nd .  The seminar focused on the Irish Water landscape which is currently experiencing many new opportunities. Creating awareness of these opportunities and detailing how individuals and companies can become involved was the objective of the seminar.

Pictured at the event were (Left to Right); Brian Cahill (Mallow Innovation Centre Manager), Kevin Fitzgibbon (WSSIC Co-ordinator), Michael Hanley (Managing Director, North Cork Enterprise Board) & Pat Murphy (Senior Engineer, Cork County Council).

Keynote speakers were Kevin Fitzgibbon from the Water Systems and Services Innovation Centre (WSSIC) at Nimbus and Brian Cahill from the Mallow Hub (Nimbus) and Pat Murphy from Cork County Council.

The main focus of these speakers was:

  • Pat Murphy, Senior Engineer, Cork County Council – on the changes in responsibilities for the Local Authorities, and opportunities arising for companies, with the establishment of Irish Water
  • Kevin Fitzgibbon, Co-ordinator of the Water Services & Systems Innovation Centre (WSSIC) at Nimbus, CIT – on the opportunities for research and innovation for companies through the Nimbus Centre
  • Brian Cahill, Co-ordinator of the Mallow Systems Innovation Centre, an outreach of Nimbus at CIT – on the services and opportunities available through the Mallow Centre

The session was chaired by Michael Hanley of North Cork Enterprise Board, and was well attended by a cross-section of local businesses and companies with an interest in the water sector.
