With a growing interest in renewable energy resources globally, the sun and the wind have become one of the most rapidly growing eco-friendly alternative energy sources of the recent years.

By using Solar PhotoVoltaic Panels and Wind Turbines, both, sunlight and wind are transformed into electricity ready to be consumed at homes, schools, businesses and any other establishments that require electricity. This two will be the most important power production units of any hybrid system up to date.

It must be said as well that by using Solar Thermal Panels, sunlight can be used for pre-heating water in water heating or hot water installations, reducing our gas/electricity bill.

The possibility of being grid tied has been taken into account too, in case the power production from our renewable sources is not enough to cover our power supply requirements, or just the opposite, we have a surplus power production and decide to sell it back to the grid where available.

Adding a battery bank to the installation, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) service can be assured in the system. If an electric car exists in the household, a special power protocol can be developed to use the battery bank on it as an alternative power source/storage element in the system.

A Smart Control Unit will manage the power distribution and conversion, when needed, in the system.

Both, AC and DC installations can be developed according to the hybrid system configuration decided to use.

By the use of a network bus, information about power production and consumption will be collected and used by the control unit to create profiles of power consumption/production for each source/load of the system. Once these profiles are created a better and tighter management can be deployed.
