Zeto Technology Solutions is an Irish company using the latest development in wireless technology and cloud computing to provide real time solutions for information on temperature, humidity and energy usage. Their applications can be used in the healthcare, food, pharmaceutical and other industrial environments. They commenced business in 2009 by designing a system to measure the temperatures being achieved by industrial warewashing equipment to ensure that hot water sanitization was occurring. They quickly adapted their system to test both laundry equipment and bed pan washers. The company is now able to provide all of these services to hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities throughout Ireland.
The company was the runner-up in the it@cork “Innovation that Matters” 2011 initiative which aims to identify, recognise and promote innovation in Irish companies. The company was selected from a field of 137 companies for a place in the DCU Ryan Academy, since then Zeto have secured the Enterprise Ireland Competitive Start fund and a place on the Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers programme.
Technology needs of the company
Zeto Technology Solutions sought the design and development of a wireless interface for a refrigeration controller. The wireless interface had to be capable of reading data from the refrigeration unit and writing it to a server database located on-site. The company wanted to target both domestic and foreign markets with this new innovative solution. The development of this solution was supported by an Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher.
What TEC Centre can do
The TEC Centre specializes in all aspects of embedded computing solutions including sensors and interfacing technologies. A particular focus of the Centre is the development of rapid prototypes that allows the prototype to be critically assessed in a real world environment at low cost to the customer. TEC Centre’s wireless communications expertise and skill at developing such rapid prototypes was especially beneficial to this project. As a result of this successful project, Zeto Technology Solutions have secured further Enterprise Ireland funding with a view to optimizing the current prototype system.
How TEC Centre delivered
The TEC Centre provided the company with a full system requirements analysis, specification, design and build, resulting in a functional prototype system. The PCB board was designed and manufactured and fully tested to ensure project requirements were met.
Impact of the project for the Company
The project has allowed the company to design a prototype system for remote refrigeration monitoring, control and diagnostics in a low cost manner and avoid costly consulting and professional services fees. It allowed the company to explore a business opportunity that they otherwise would not have been in a position to explore. By selecting the TEC Centre as the appropriate knowledge provider, the company was able to call upon TEC’s vast experience in the field of wireless technologies and PCB prototype design which, when coupled with the company’s own in-house software capabilities, resulted in a very exciting and innovative product.
Company Testimonial (Stephen Slattery, CEO)
“The TEC Centre has been a great resource to us over the last 6 months. Their approach to our project has been thoroughly professional and their quality of work second to none. The prototype they designed for us was exactly to spec and on time. We look forward to working with the TEC Centre on many more projects in the future and I would recommend them highly to anyone thinking of embarking on a project like ours.”
