Nimbus offers both Internship and Undergraduate Project opportunities to Irish and international students from a wide range of disciplines. A Nimbus Internship is a full-time “work-placement” in Nimbus lasting one or two academic semesters and can be used to meet the work-placement requirements of an undergraduate or taught master’s degree. An Undergraduate Project may be full-time or part-time over one or two academic semesters and will usually carry academic credits.
In Nimbus, Interns and Project Students have the opportunity to work in the areas of embedded systems hardware, software, networking and applications. Nimbus application areas include energy, water, smart cities, location and tracking, the built environment, health and related areas. Due to our diversity of application areas, there are opportunities for students from a wide range of disciplines including electronics, telecommunications, computing, networking, energy, mechanical engineering and mechatronics. With state of the art facilities, highly experienced supervisors, strong national and international research collaborations and deep engagement with industry, Nimbus provides a first-class environment for interns and project students who will usually be integrated with one of our research or industry project teams, gaining both technical and team-working experience.
Internships and Undergraduate Projects are open to applications from CIT students, students from other Irish institutions and to international students. Nimbus has a strong track record in hosting international students from Erasmus partners and other institutes. There may also be opportunities to carry out your Undergraduate Project in your home department on a topic related to Nimbus activities with co-supervision or advisory support from Nimbus.
